Teenage darts sensation, Luke Littler, has made an application to the UK Intellectual Property Office to trade mark his own name. The mark has been applied for in relation to a vast array of goods and services, including clothing and sportswear, sporting equipment, books, magazines, and artificial Christmas trees.
17-year-old Littler, who rose to prominence following his stellar performance at the 2023 World Darts Championship appears to be taking steps to establish the “Luke Littler” brand and cement his position in the sport. Littler is now also a brand ambassador for fashion giant ‘boohooMan’ and is the celebrity face of cereal brand ‘Best’.
Earlier this year, Littler also applied for a trade mark for his nickname “The Nuke”, though the mark is still yet to be registered. Littler’s actions clearly demonstrate the commercial IP considerations that arise from attaining stardom through sport.
