Alecia Beth Moore, known professionally as ‘Pink’, has initiated opposition proceedings against fellow musician, Pharrell Williams.
Pink has opposed Williams’ application for the mark “P.INC” on the basis it is similar in “sight, sound, meaning and commercial impression” to her own trade mark for the mark “PINK”. Williams’ mark has been applied for against various goods and services including “promotional marketing services in the field of music” which is arguably closely linked to the services in which Pink uses her own mark. Further, there is also a arguably a cross over in trade and consumer channels.
That is not the only opposition that mark has received. Victoria’s Secret has also filed a formal opposition against the mark on the basis it would be confusingly similar to their own PINK apparel.
It is to be seen if Pharrell Williams will defend the opposition proceedings.
