We look after and secure client brands. We monitor the activity of others, deal with licensing, agents, registrations and registration strategy, renewals, challenging third party applications, deal with attacks to the brand, counterfeiting and advice on brand use to avoid dilution. We also deal with ongoing portfolio management, watching services and domain issues.
The risks to the brand strength by not monitoring third parties, by not specifying how brands are to be used by those linked to the business such as licensee, distributors, stockists and through those in the supply chain not respecting and protecting the brand.
It is client and brand specific but can often relate to registration costs, scope, commercial agreement issues and enforcement strategy and costs.
We have the expertise and personnel to manage the fast-moving world of brands; we understand the importance; we manage a number of international portfolios and deal internationally with issues that arise. We have seconded lawyers to work in-house at multi-national brands in the past and know and understand the commercial realities involved in brand management.
