British based online supermarket, Ocado, has been victorious in proceedings brought against it in the High Court in London by Norwegian tech firm, AutoStore. AutoStore has sued Ocado across various jurisdictions in an attempt to protect its intellectual property rights, and this particular claim was brought by AutoStore back in 2020 and proceeded to trial in March and April 2022. Judgment has been handed down in favour of Ocado this week. The dispute arose over use of warehouse storage technology. In a blow to AutoStore, the High Court judge ruled that AutoStore’s patents were invalid and thus there was no infringement. The Judge also ruled that even had the patents been valid, there was no infringement by Ocado.
