Following the Labour victory in the recent General Election, the government announced that Feryal Clark, MP for Enfield North, has been appointed Parliamentary Under Secretary of State in the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology, with responsibility for Intellectual Property (IP).
Adam Williams, Chief Executive and Comptroller-General of the Intellectual Property Office, welcomed the appointment, stating “I am delighted to welcome Feryal Clark as the new minister responsible for IP.” He added, “The new government has a clear mission – economic growth. Innovation and creativity are crucial to achieving this goal, and intellectual property is a powerful enabler across many sectors of the UK economy.”
We hope that the new IP minister can help to advance protections for IP rights holders and further enhance the UK’s intellectual property system. We wish the new minister the very best of fortunes.
