(Ha)did not have permission to post

American model, Bella Hadid, has been accused of copyright infringement by Chosen Figure LLC over a social media post from back in 2020.

Hadid posted a photograph to her Instagram page back in August 2020, the photo was of Hadid herself, but was shot by paparazzi working for Chosen Figure LLC. The claim has been filed in the US District Court for the Southern District of New York earlier this week and states Hadid posted the photo as “part of a popular and lucrative commercial enterprise”.

Hadid allegedly posted the picture to her Instagram story, which disappears after 24 hours, but Chosen Figure LLC included a screenshot of the alleged infringement in its pleadings.

This is not the first claim of its kind issued by Chosen Figure LLC this year, the company have reportedly filed various claims of a similar nature in California, Washington and Florida. The case serves as a pertinent reminder that just because a person is the subject of a picture, it doesn’t mean they have permission to use it.
