Back in June we reported on “a Paramount Problem” unfolding over the release of Top Gun: Maverick. The family of the late Ehud Yonay sued Paramount Pictures (“Paramount”) for copyright infringement over the release of the film. Since then, Paramount filed a motion to dismiss, which has been rejected by the court. The motion was filed on the grounds the Claimant in the matter has not pled the case to the appropriate standard. The court disagrees. Paramount now has until 28 November 2022 to formally respond to the claim at hand. It is to be seen if this matter will settle out of court, or if Paramount intends to fight this claim all the way.
