Qualifications
Niall graduated from Kings College, University of London with a degree in Biotechnology (B.Sc.) Hons. Niall then undertook law at Nottingham Law School where he undertook the Common Professional Examination (Merit) and Law Society Finals (Honours). Niall then undertook his training contract in the City of London with Gouldens (now Jones Day) subsequently moving to Freshfields and what is now CMS. Whilst in the City Niall undertook the Diploma in Intellectual Property Law at Queen Mary College London. After leaving the City Niall was a partner at top 100 firms Martineau Johnson and Ward Hadaway before establishing McDaniel & Co, and now McDaniels Law.
With almost 30 years’ experience of leading cases in all aspects of Intellectual Property in areas of Patent Law, Copyright, Design, Trade Marks and Confidential Information, Niall advises regularly on Intellectual Property Strategy, a combination of identification of rights, securing those rights in the correct place and a strategy for policing and enforcement.
Niall has a wide knowledge of all aspects of Intellectual Property. Niall has been involved in leading cases in all aspects of Intellectual Property in areas of Patent Law, Copyright, Design, Trade Marks and Confidential Information. Whilst always trying to avoid Court Proceedings it demonstrates the determination to see matters through to a conclusion and to obtain the best result for a client.
With significant commercial experience, having been director and board chair of Biostatus (www.biostatus.co.uk) a company which provides novel solutions for imaging, cytometry and screening, Niall has also spent time as the Intellectual Property Manager at the Centre of Excellence for Life Sciences in Newcastle and was the commercial director for Piranha Studios, an IP licensing business.
The combination of Niall’s experience allows Niall to provide a focused commercial approach for IP owners identifying what is in the best interests of the individual or business and providing robust, practical solutions.
